About Métier

A film and podcast series celebrating women and their work

Métier is an ongoing series showcasing inspiring women working with passion within their field.

OUR VISION

Over our working lives we have met hundreds of inspiring women across many disciplines; from sculptors to scientists and lecturers to entrepreneurs. What ignites us about these women is their passion and verve for their profession; the way they talk about their work, the way they describe it to people and answer the question - “why is it you do what you do?”. Now is the time to share these stories with a wider audience, motivating a creative energy, and inspiring curious minds to step forward.

We have created a series of short documentary films and podcasts delving into the person behind the passion, exploring the nuts and bolts of making their work happen and the legacy they hope to create. What does their day look like? What and who inspires them? What keeps them awake at night?

ROSIE MURDOCH

Rosie Murdoch is an art curator and a producer of stories through writing, film and podcasts.

Having studied english literature at university in Belfast, Rosie has worked as an accountant technician, a legal secretary in her mum's office, a youth programmer for Summer Uni and a gallery director at Bow Arts collecting experiences and friends along the way.

Rosie has just parked-up on the day job to go freelance and invest more time in Métier. She has also launched the Madge Gill Drawing Project, to promote Britain's foremost "outsider" artist Madge Gill in her home borough, Newham. Rosie is delivering projects for University College London and LBN, and collects her three children from school at 3pm on weekdays. They usually have an ice-cream on Friday.

EMMA CROUCH

A documentary filmmaker, Emma is a storyteller who works mainly in the areas of arts, education and community/global issues. With a degree in Anthropology, Emma has a natural curiosity to explore the world around her, reinterpreting people's passions or specialist knowledge into a narrative that is accessible to a wider audience. She also works collaboratively with artist to help create work/commissions.

Based in East London, but working across the UK and globally, Emma is equally at home on a building site in Barking, wading through a river in South London, hanging off the back of a 4-by-4 in Malawi, or in an artist studio in Sheffield.

Métier is an intensely personal and important project to both Emma & Rosie allowing these close friends to collaborate on a professional platform to support women in a way they choose.

We aptly launched the project on International Women's Day with an awesome bunch of people. We'd like to thank the wonderful team at DCM for believing in the project, and wonderfully hosting us in their screening room for the launch.
