Sumana Chandrashekar performs the ghatam for the Oppi community, a global education community that this year met up in Bangalore, India. Sumana performed several pieces and in interview with Arundhati Ghosh, spoke about the heritage of this ancient Indian instrument, or 'clay pot', and what it's like to play as one of few woman ghatam players in this male dominated space. For the last decade Sumana has been studying the ghatam under the tutelage of India’s first female ghatam player Vidushi Sukanya Ramgopal.
